Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Does what it says - it provides very good extended coverage
Cons: It's expensive
Other Thoughts: When I plugged this puppy in and set it up I could suddenly stream from my bedroom which is in an expansion to the house, upstairs and outside of the stem wall of the original house. The router downstairs just couldn't push signal that far and putting the extender just outside the room allows perfect signal. The extender itself actually seems to have a more powerful signal than my router and, though I couldn't tell you what that is just now, it's not a cheap router. Very happy with the product thought I was skeptical when I bought it.
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Constantly drops internet, requiring a restart to get back online3/17/2017 4:02:45 PM
Pros: - Nice when it works, fast!
Cons: - Every day or so it loses connection to the router (unable to even ping the device) so all connected clients basically lose all internet access until you unplug and replug in the device
Other Thoughts: - Would not recommend, more hassle than it's worth

Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Fairly easy setup
Cons: Will not connect 15-20 ft away. I have a new WRT3200 router and my TV/PC is about 20-25 ft away and was unable to connect reliably at 5GHz so I bought this to improve the range - no luck this unit only connects when it is closer than 15ft. The router is in my office and my range extender in the kitchen with a patio door and window separating them. My previous Netgear 2.4GHz range extender had no problem connecting. I'm probably going to return this unit (sadly).

Pros: I have had this wireless extended longer than any other product I have received from the Newegg eggxpert program, and I suspect they are wondering what's taking so long. The reason has been two-fold. First I had chosen to review the LINKSYS RE7000 because I have owned, and still use the Linksys RE1000 but wanted something which operated on the 5GHz band, which the RE1000 does not. However I had noticed that the LINKSYS RE7000 advertised that it works with free cable provider wifi which is bundled with your TV packages. This is important because these Xfinity or ATT hotspots are scattered throughout cities like NYC, where I am, and provide a convenient way of connecting. Second: My significant other uses the Xfinity hotspot near her place as home internet. I had thought the LINKSYS RE7000 would be the perfect present for her because she doesn't have a router of her own and complained that the Xfinity hotspot comes and goes when it rains. Despite that little problem she uses the hotspot daily without problems to stream movies, write papers, and shop online.
Cons: Setup was easy enough, with a utility which tells you when the device is too near or too far to the hotspot. However, after multiple tries I never got the device to work with the Xfinity hotspot despite the interface saying it's connected. Bummer.
Lucky for us I bought us an apartment and she moved in with me (another reason this review took a while). In this new location, too, there was an Xfinity hotspot. However the same problem occurred, in which the LINKSYS RE7000 confirmed that it had a connection with the Xfinity hotspot, but no connection was passed through to the browser on the computer. Bummer again.
At this point I broke down and got us an internet package, using some cheap old D-Link router at the host. With a D-Link router the LINKSYS RE7000 was able to pass the connection successfully to the computer and I have had no problems with the product for over a month.

Other Thoughts: So should you buy the LINKSYS RE7000?
If you need to connect to cable provider hotspots:
No, do not buy this product. Despite the manufacturer claiming the product should be compatible with my testing, in two locations on multiple days, I was unable to get the LINKSYS RE7000 to work.
If you need a simple repeater to plug in a socket and have a relatively small home:
Yes, the LINKSYS RE7000 works great, and works on the 5GHz band. As such the range will not be very far but in crowded apartment complexes like mine the uncrossed 5GHz band will really help with signal consistency. However, in my testing the LINKSYS RE7000, acting as a repeater, worked best only 15-20ft away from the main 3 antenna router...not much of an extension…even at 5GHz.
As for my thoughts: I had only accepted the LINKSYS RE7000 for review because I didn't want to go through the trouble of buying a Broadcom based router, flashing DD-WRT onto it, and then setting it as a wireless bridge or repeater. I had high hopes that the LINKSYS RE7000 would fulfill this hole in the market that has been only filled by this DIY solution for us Linux users. As such I was very disappointed by the LINKSYS RE7000 and I can only hope this review helps those of you who were intending to use the LINKSYS RE7000 for the same purpose as I have described here

I'm impressed so much I might be buying another!8/25/2016 8:13:41 PM
Pros: Starting with the packaging this product comes in a simple, but elegant solution. Open the box, read the short instructions, stick it in the wall and with a few simple configurations you are off and running. I've had many and I mean many extenders. This is by far the best extender I have ever used, bar none. I own a large home and I have struggled with adequate wireless coverage for years. Once I did the spot finder and found the appropriate location in my house I actually disabled my WAP that was nearby. This saturates more than 50% of the western side of my house (3500sq ft). My wifi strength and speeds throughout the house on a laptop and various smart phones is always right at or near my wired speeds of 90mbs down/6mbs up.
One thing that others have wished they could test was the Max-Stream seamless roaming. Well after some time I decided to purchase their AC1900 Max-Stream router and see what this was all about. In the past I have used WAPs on different channels using the same SSID, but it was never seamless. This technology when paired with the Max-Stream router and the seamless technology is so frigin flawless I love it. I never have drops anymore or issues with my wifi devices moving from the basement to the upper floors. If you own this extender and haven't bought their new routers, do it, you won't regret it.

Cons: I'd say the thing I don't like most is the cost, but the age old saying you get what you pay for stands true. I've had many upon many extenders at lesser prices and they weren't this good at what they were built to do. The other con is to enjoy the seamless roaming you have to buy their router, which for me set me back another $185. I ultimately justified this cost because my Archer C8 was deciding it didn't like to keep my wifi up consistently. After switching to the new Linksys Max-Stream router and this extender, I literally have had zero problems. On the Archer I had drops at least 1-2x a week.
Other Thoughts: One thing I'd like to give an alternative point to is the DirecTV discussion. I own the HD DVR and the GenieGO. I have had them connected both on wifi and wired and experienced no problems. I'm not sure why the other person experienced those issues, but I can attest that DirecTV and this extender with their router has no issues. All in all, buy this extender and while you are at it, buy their Max-Stream seamless roaming router, you won't be disappointed.
